Ugo A. Benettieri Jr. of East Hartford, loving husband of 54 years of Betsy (Phillips) Benettieri passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 8, 2021. Ugo was born on February 21, 1943 in Manchester one of three children of the late Ugo Sr. and Phyllis (Manganaro) Benettieri. He was raised in East Hartford, attended local schools and was a graduate of East Hartford High School. Ugo was a proud veteran of the US. Air Force serving his country during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement he was employed as an Air Traffic Controller for over 40 years for the Federal Aviation Administration, a career he truly loved. He was also an entrepreneur having owned a Gym, Strength & Fitness in Glastonbury and the United Snack Company of South Windsor. Ugo was a true gentleman and always was kind to others. He loved his family and his animals. He enjoyed walking his dog Chase, arguing with his cat Oogie and faithfully feeding all the birds. Ugo was a huge and dedicated fan of the Boston Red Sox. He attended the Blessed Sacrament Church in East Hartford where he served for many years as a Eucharistic Minister.

In addition to his loving spouse Betsy, he leaves his four children Karen Bordalo and spouse John of Unity, NH., Ronald Cummins and spouse Shelley of Vandalia, OH., Tia Correnti and spouse Santo of South Windsor and Liza Benettieri of East Hartford. Ten special grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, his sister Connie DiSomma of East Hartford and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Ugo was predeceased by his daughter Katherine Motuzick and his brother Frank Benettieri.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road in South Windsor on Friday, August 13, 2021 from 4-6 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 673 Ellington Road in South Windsor on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 9:30 am. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Easy Hartford. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Connecticut Chapter, 200 Executive Blvd., #4 B, Southington, CT. 06489.
