Rupert Bent was a blacksmith and a machinist. Born in Nictaux Falls, he removed to Bath, Maine, for a short time in the 1860s, returned to Nictaux Falls and a few years later removed to Londonderry, Colcherster County before moving to Goldenville, Guysborough County, where he was one of the operators of the Dominion Gold Mines. He married,at Great Village, Margaret Emma Beattie, daughter of Eben and Barbara (___) Beattie , on 1 Jan 1857. [Information from the birth record of their son James R. Bent, b.
