Bill E Tiberghien –

Bill E., son of Elizabeth (Snyder) and W. L. (Lafe) Tiberghien was born 3 miles north and three quarters miles west of Alva on March 12, 1917. He passed away at the Alva Share Medical Center on the 17th of October 1999, at the age of 82

He attended the Greenleaf Rural Grade School, Horace Mann High School and Northwestern State College. He then owned and operated a service station on the northeast corner on the Alva Square.

On Friday, August 13, 1939 at Buffalo, Oklahoma he was married to Clara Gatz. Following their marriage they made their home in Alva and he continued to operate the service station. Then he started his own nation-wide trucking service. In 1959, he built the Bill's Truck Stop and Clara's Café in Alva, and later the Western Motel. In 1969, he retired and worked part-time as a driver for Bob Coker Motor Company. He was a member of the Alva First United Methodist Church and the Alva Elks Lodge.

Mr. Tiberghien was preceded in death by his parents.

Bill is survived by his wife, Clara of the home; a sister-in-law, Rena Baxter and her children, Bobbie and Jim Givens, all of Wichita, Kansas, and Bill and Linda Baxter of Garden City, Kansas and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, 3 p.m. at the Alva First United Methodist Church with Reverend David Cressman officiating. Internment will be at the Alva Municipal Cemetery with Wharton Funeral Chapel of Alva in charge of the arrangements.

Contribution may be made in his memory to the Alva First United Methodist Church or to the charity of the donor's choice.
