Services for local bank official will be Saturday

Funeral services for Jimmie Ray Gatz of Alva will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at the Alva First United Methodist Church. He died suddenly Wednesday at the Wichita Wesley Medical Center from injuries received in an accident Monday afternoon.

He was an employee at Central National Bank in Alva having worked there in the summer of 1967. He was also very active ????.

He graduated from Alva High School with the class of 19?? He attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University for two years. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1963 from the Oklahoma State University. He earned a masters degree in agriculture economics from the University at Arizona in 1966.

He taught school at Allament Kansas at the Labette County Community High School and Booker High School in the field of vocational agriculture.

He was the son of Eva and Louis Gatz of rural Alva. He was born near Alva on Aug 14, 1941. He died at the age of 41 years, seven months and two days.

He married Ruth Ann Maxwell on May 28, 1961. The couple had three children.

He was a member of the Alva First United Methodist Church. Teacher of a Sunday School Class, and sponsor of the youth group, and a member of the administration group.

He was active in FFA while in High School and was awarded State Farmer Degree in 1959. American Farmer Degree in 1962, and was on of the top ten Student Elks Youth Leaders in high school.

Survivors include his wife Ruth Ann, a daughter, Gina Lou, two sons, Gregory Jim and Bradley Ray, all of the home in Alva, his parents, Eva and Louis Gatz of Alva; a sister, Mrs. Edward (Joyce) Chase, of Tishomingo, and a brother Joe of Alva; his grandmother, Allie Gatz of Alva and other relatives and friends.

The Rev Darrel Hardy, pastor, will officiate, with burial in the Alva Municipal Cemetery under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Chapel.

Contribution may be made in his memory to the Northwester Oklahoma State University agricultural department.
