Wm. Frank Scott was born in Palestine, Crawford County, Illinois, in 1868, to parents John Keith Scott and Margaret J. Pasley Scott. In the 1880 Census, for an unknown reason, he is listed as Edward Franklin. Mostly, he went by the name "Frank". He grew up in a farming family of 9 children, in Crawford and Jasper Counties, Illinois.
He was married in 1901 to Nellie McGovern. In the 1910 census they had five children. They rented a farm in Robinson, Crawford County, Illinois. Their children were: Ruth (b. 1902), Annie (b. 1904), Ethel (b. 1906), Eva (b. 1908), Rosco (b. 1910). Frank and Nellie separated.
In the 1920 census Wm Frank was lodging in Augusta, Kansas, and working in the oil fields, but listed as married. It appears that Nellie and the children did not join him in Kansas. Several of his brothers also worked in the Kansas oil fields.
Sometime before 1930, Wm Frank was married to his 2nd wife, Iva Belle Scott. At that time, he was a "street worker". Wm. Frank and Belle eventually relocated to Goebel, MO. They remained married until Belle's death in 1940, at which time Wm. Frank, being 72 years old, returned to live in Crawford County, Illinois. He died in 1949 at the age of 81, and is buried in Robinson New Cemetery, Robinson, Illinois. No headstone.
