I'll start off saying we do not know where Elkanah originally came from but he is who started the current day Brauda line that came from South Carolina and Georgia. He showed up the first time in the 1820 South Carolina census records and also owning property in Barnhill, Sc. We do know he was married to Elizabeth Middleton and had 3 daughters Sarah, Amanda and Cerena. Then later he married to a Suzanna B. having 4 sons, one of which we do not know the name of. Others are John C., James Hubbard and Josiah Brauda. Elkanah showed up for the last time in the 1850 census records where he died in 1852. We strongly believe he is buried on what was his property in Barnwell, Sc which part of it is now covered by a power plant.
