Gloria May Marek died peacefully at home April 30, 2021. She left life as she lived it with grace, kindness and optimism.

Gloria was born May 1, 1933 the youngest child of Vernon and Ellen Dahlside Anderson in Onoway Alberta Canada and moved with her family to Linnton, Ore., as a young child. She attended Skyline Grade School where she was selected "Queen Gloria." She attended Beaverton High School graduating in 1951. She married Rudy Marek in March of 1951 and they had three sons, Tim, Dean and Brian. In 1961 the family moved from North Portland to Banks, Ore. The boys kept her active with cub scouts, sports, berry picking and school events. In the mid 60's she took a job at Finley Sunset Hills Cemetery as a secretary/office manager.

After her divorce in 1972 she worked at Western Savings in Portland until her retirement in the late 90's. In 1982 she married Alfred Markwardt and together they built a home on Failing St. in N.E. Portland and enjoyed traveling, card and bridge games and visiting with family.

Gloria is survived by her sons; Tim and Lorrie Marek of Redmond, Ore., Dean Marek of Cornelius, Ore., and Brian and Carroll Marek of Hillsboro, Ore.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two stepsons, Gary and Donn Markwardt and their families.

Gloria's memorial service will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 15, 2021, at Westside/A Jesus Church; 10500 S.W. Nimbus Ave., Building T, Portland, OR 97223 (Located in Scholls Business Center). Viewing will be from 12 - 1 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at 3 p.m., at Union Point Cemetery, Banks, Ore.
