Published in the Piscataquis (ME) Observer 5 Feb 1880 p2: "IN MEMORIAM---Mrs. Etta F. Davis, wife of Asa S. Davis, of Foxcroft, died of pneumonia, Jan. 18, 1880, aged 43 years. The deceased became a member of the Baptist church, Dover, July 4, 1858, ad since that time has been a humble, consistent and devoted Christian. She was happy in life, and happy in death. During her last illness she looked away with unshaken faith and peaceful joy to the inheritance which God promises all those who love him. On Sabbath evening at eleven o'clock she peacefully crossed the river to her home above, to spend an eternal Sabbath with her Saviour, whom she served and in whom she trusted. Truly, for her to die was gain, for to depart and be with Christ was far better. She has left us, but her memory remains. Her life is her best epitaph. Her excellencies were numerous and varied, she is therefore mourned and missed. A sorrowing husband, a niece, a mother, sisters, brothers and others, feel deeply the loss. But while they lose much, she gains all---all that is promised those who 'watch for the coming of the Bridegroom'. 'Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord.'" [also includes a 6 verse poem]
