Jack Wayne Bauer, 70, of Winnie, died Saturday, August 21, 2021, at Christus Southeast Texas – St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. He was born March 5, 1951, in Beaumont, to Mary Heiner Bauer and Robert E. Bauer.

Jack served in multiple positions with the Texas Rice Improvement Association, East Chambers Agricultural Historical Society, Jefferson County Appraisal District, Hope Lutheran Church, Coastal Cattle Association, Jefferson County Agricultural Committee. He was named the 1991 Texas Rice Festival Farmer of the Year. Jack was the third generation to farm rice and raise cattle. His son Gerald is continuing in his footsteps and hopefully one day his children, Kash or Kimber, will carry on the farm.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Christie Bauer; son, Gerald Bauer and his wife, Marcia, of Winnie; daughters, Sherri Tidwell and her husband, Gary, of DeQuincy, Louisiana; and Jennifer Abshire and her husband, Tim, of Fannett; mother, Mary Bauer of Winnie; sisters, Carol Walther of Maryville, Illinois; Janet Taylor of Houston; and Linda Bauer of Bastrop; grandchildren, Cheyenne Mengers, Shelby Bauer, Colton Elkins, Kash Bauer, Kimber Bauer, Kerri Gresham, Nicholas Abshire, and Gracelyn Abshire; and two great-grandchildren, Holden Gollihare and Allen Mengers.

He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Bauer, and his sister, Marilyn Erickson.

A gathering of Mr. Bauer's family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at Broussard's, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. A second gathering will begin 10:00 a.m., with his funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 26, 2021, at Hope Lutheran Church, 1322 9th Street, Winnie, with his interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.
