Paul Marion Opper passed away December 20, 2001 at Washington Hospital in Fremont, California. He was born on August 8, 1921 in Altus, Arkansas and was 80 years old. His father Anton Opper, his mother Johanna Glanzmann Opper, six brothers and four sisters preceded him in death. He was the beloved father of six children: Dennis Rofkahr of Lakewood, CO; Lisa Opper of Fremont, CA; Jennifer Kincheloe of Fremont, CA; Philip Opper of Lafayette, LA; Melanie Martin of Fremont, CA; and Timothy Opper of Fremont, CA. He was the loving grandfather of ten, step-grandfather of four and step-great-grandfather of four. Three sisters also survive him: Gertrude Worley of Independence, MO; Mary Pfeiffer and Christine Harris both of Ozark, AR. He was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II, a former member of the Knights of Columbus and an active Pro-Life advocate. Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services Wednesday, January 2, 2002 at 10:15 AM in Berge-Pappas-Smith Chapel of the Angels, 40842 Fremont Blvd., Fremont, with a procession to Saint Leonard-Santa Paula Catholic Church for a Mass of Resurrection at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Irvington Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. Visitation will be Monday, December 31, 2001 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM with a Vigil Service at 4:00 PM in the Mortuary Chapel. The family requests remembrances to the St. Leonard-Santa Paula Building Fund, 41933 Blacow Road, Fremont, CA 94538.
