James "Jim" E. Kobler
Glen Carbon - James E. Kobler, age 90, of Glen Carbon, IL, passed away at 10:50 am on August 19, 2021, at his residence. Jim was born January 10, 1931, in Chicago, IL, the son of the late George Peter & Erin Rose (Leddy) Kobler. Jim married Maureen Woods in Chicago on April 4, 1959. Besides his wife of 62 years, Jim is survived by 7 children: James E. Kobler, Jr. & wife Kathie, of Buffalo Grove, IL, John Kobler & wife Barbara, of Palatine, IL, Martin Kobler & wife Roxanne, of Arlington Heights, IL, Paul Kobler & wife Alison, Perrysburg, OH, Joseph Kobler, of Glen Carbon, IL, Tim Kobler & wife Chrissy, of Buffalo Grove, IL, and Bill Kobler & wife Emily, of Troy, IL; 19 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and many nieces & nephews. Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a daughter Margaret Mary (Peggy) Kobler and a brother George Kobler. Jim was a U.S. Army veteran. He was also active in various groups. He was a past President of the Collinsville Lions Club, Glen Carbon Museum board member, Glen Carbon Public Library Board Trustee, Past President of The Chicago Transportation Club, a lifelong member of The Knight of Columbus and was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Glen Carbon. A visitation will be held at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home on Friday, August 27, 2021, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, August 28. 2021, at 10:00 am with Fr. Patrick Gibbons presiding. Interment will follow at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville.
