THOMAS, BRIDIE KATHRYN MORIARTY Born December 13, 1919, in County Kerry, Ireland, to Dan and Ellen Moriarty, the fifth of eleven children. Bridie emigrated to the United States at age nine and lived with her aunt and uncle, Henry and Mary Hannigan, in Salt Lake City. She graduated from South High School in 1936 and from the University of Utah in 1941. She married James Rolla Thomas Jr. in 1942. Captain Thomas was killed in Eastern France in 1945, shortly after the birth of their son. Bridie was a supervisor for Cyto-Biological Laboratory in San Diego for thirty years. She was an astute Contract Bridge player and a scintillating conversationalist. She had numerous friends of all ages. Her home was often crowded with her son's friends, Marines and Sailors who found a home away from home. Many came to visit her in later years. She died of old age at home in the evening of June 14th. Bridie is survived by her son and his wife, a grandson and his wife and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters and a brother. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on September 25th, at St. Didacus Church, 4772 Felton Street, San Diego, 92116, where she had been a parishioner. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The San Diego Hospice or Saint Vincent de Paul Village.
