Betty Jean Racan, 85, a resident of Hempfield Manor, formerly of Jeannette, Pa., died Wednesday, November 21, 2007.

She was born November 29, 1921, in Thompson 1, Pa., a daughter of the late Jesse and Blanche Bryner McClain.

Prior to her retirement, Betty was a nurse for the St. Anne Nursing Home, Greensburg.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Thomas J. Racan in 1986, three brothers, Charles, Jesse and Geno McClain and four sisters, Lois Highberger, Edna Monovich, Mildred Cingota and Patricia Davis.

She is survived by her children: Rebecca Powers of Reno, Nev., Barbara Raviart and husband, Gary of Jeannette, Thomas Alan Racan and wife, Jancie of Fairmont, W.Va., David Racan of Calif., and Gary Racan and wife, Kim of Greensburg; grandchildren: Joseph Zeman, David and Thomas Racan, Adam and Garrett Raviart and Abbie Racan; sisters: Mary Jane Beal and husband, Thomas of Republic, Sally Gwaltney and husband, Joseph of Georgia, Jackie Johnson of Brownsville, and Donna Terrace and husband, James of Republic; brothers: Harold McClain of Brownsville, Ralph McClain of Calif., and James McClain of Elizabeth, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends were received in the JOHN V. GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME, INC., 228 North 2nd Street, Jeannette, Pa., where funeral services will take place this morning at 10 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J. W. Hormell officiating.

Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Mount Pleasant Township.
