The family was Cherokee Decent from
Roy's gr. grandmother, Mahala "Atchley"
Long, wife of Maples Long.
Roy was Baptist by faith.
He was a loving uncle, son, brother,
father, grandfather and husband.
Roy was loved by his friends and all
of his family. He is truly missed by
all. I will never forget what a loving
and thoughtful Uncle he was. I still
have a great many greeting cards from
Uncle Roy. He was a very special
Uncle, I always enjoyed staying with
him and Aunt Lorene in Tulsa. I can
remember going on the bus with Aunt
Lorene and Nina to downtown Tulsa,
where Aunt Lorene worked and Nian
was an elevator operator. Uncle Roy
drove a cab at one time. Dad and I
would ride with him sometimes. And
also going to the park and one
time, we went down and he had tickets
to the Greatest Show on Earth.
His only son, Billy, was sadly killed
in a terrible car accident. A drunk
driver crossed into the wrong side of
the road, on a hill and hit the car
head-on that Billy was a passenger.
Billy was instantly killed. His
friend driving the car, survived.
The drunk that hit them, also survived.
