Hermon L. Page was born in Woburn, Mass., on Dec. 29, 1843, son of John O. and Elizabeth F. Page. He was 17 years old and working as a clerk when the Civil War began. On July 5, 1861, he enlisted and mustered into national service as a private in Company K, First Regiment Massachusetts Heavy Artillery.

On April 6, 1863, he was promoted to corporal. On June 17, 1864, he was wounded in his head at Petersburg, Virginia, and was transported to a military hospital in Philadelphia, Penn., where he died on July 7, 1864, at age 20, two days after completing his three years' enlistment.
