Mrs. Springer died Tuesday, July 2, 1991, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born Sept. 6, 1906, in Tonganoxie, the daughter of Thomas and Emma Bennett Chandler.
She attended Lawrence public schools and graduated from Liberty Memorial High School. She attended Kansas University and Emporia State Teachers College.
Mrs. Springer taught school in rural Douglas County for 22 years. She also assisted her husband in the operation of Rusty's Grocery Stores for many years.
She was a member of the Plymouth Congregational Church, Alpha Gamma Delta social sorority and the Douglas County Retired Teachers Assn.
She married Vernon C. "Rusty" Springer on Sept. 6, 1935, in Olathe. He survives at the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, Sharon Elkins, Lawrence, and three grandchildren.
