Death came to Miss Fannie Stiles Sunday night, November 9th, at her home on the Lynchburg Road, after a long illness. She underwent a major operation in Fayetteville some months ago and due to the seriousness of the operation, little hope was entertained thereafter for her complete recovery. She was brought to her home here a few weeks ago but her improvement was not satisfactory and for the last week she had been lingering between life and death.

Miss Stiles was 77 years old. She was born in Shady Grove, near Smithland, in Lincoln County, Tennessee. She was one of a family of ten children, three of whom survive her. She was a devout member of the Winchester Church of Christ.

"Aunt Fannie," as she was affectionately known to many, was greatly beloved by a wide scope of friends and relatives. She was gentle, kind and thoughtful, a good neighbor, and a true friend. It was her great joy to make her home a happy meeting place for those dear to her. She enjoyed home duties and it was with reluctance that she surrendered the responsibilities. Her relatives recalled that she had expressed the desire that she might die "in the harness." She reared to manhood her nephew, Jess Baldwin, now living in Pensacola, Florida.

The funeral service was conducted from the residence Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, by the Rev. Hugo Allmond, of the Church of Christ. Interment at Winchester Cemetery.

She is survived by two brothers, John Stiles of Winchester and Rufus Stiles of Franklin, and one sister, Miss Mattie Stiles of Franklin. six nieces, Miss Rose Koonce, Mrs. Henry Simmons, Mrs. Frank Kelso, of Fayetteville, Mrs. Frank Taylor of Wartrace, Mrs. Garrett Shelton of Los Angeles, California, and Mrs. Tom Reynolds of Huntland; four nephews, Jess Baldwin of Pensacola, Florida, Robert Baldwin of Memphis, and Sam Baldwin of Fayetteville.

Those attending the funeral from out of town were Dr. R. E. Baldwin of Memphis, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Baldwin, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kelso, Mrs. Frank Kelso, Mrs. Henry Simmons, Bob Wilson Ashby, C. C. Jennings, J. C. Jennings, and Miss Emma Conaway, of Fayetteville; Mr. and Mrs. Jess Baldwin of Pensacola, Florida, and Mrs. Tom Reynolds of Huntland.
