Harold A. Janke, 49, Belle Fourche, SD, died Sunday, November 25, 2007 at Spearfish Regional Hospital.

Harold was born December 10, 1957 in Deadwood, SD to Alvin and Arlys (Ness) Janke. He was raised in the Lead-Deadwood area where he attended school. He went to work for the Homestake Mining Company and later Summit Construction for the mine and other jobs in the area. Harold enjoyed the pickup and several sports cars he owned as well as attending the car races in Rapid City. He once participated as a driver in a demolition derby. Harold loved dogs and had several over the years. He was baptized and confirmed in the First Lutheran Church in Lead, SD

In September, 2004, due to illness, Harold resided at Beverly Health Care in Rapid City. He moved to High Prairie Retirement in Belle Fourche in February 2007.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at the Lead-Deadwood Funeral Chapel in Lead. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery at Deadwood.

Among his survivors are his mother, Arlys Janke, Lead, SD; one brother, Allen (Wendy) Janke, Deadwood, SD; two sisters, Donna Coons, Deadwood, SD and Elaine (Neal) Reller, Pollock, SD, numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Janke and a sister, Jolene Daiker.
