BENNINGTON—Mary Alice Theresa Clark Jones, 89, formerly a resident of Grant Street in Bennington, died peacefully Monday morning, April 14, 2008 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington.

Mary was born in Salem, N.Y. on January 27, 1919, the daughter of James Henry and Alice Kana Clark and attended local schools. She worked as an Inspector for General Electric in Rutland, Vt. for many years and also ran the Valley-Glen Yarn Shop in Manchester, Vt.

Mary was a craftsperson at various area farmers markets, enjoyed knitting and crocheting and during World War II was a blood donor for the military.

She was a member of the Home Bureau in Hoosick Falls and Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Bennington.

Mary leaves her son, William Aneriun Patrick Jones and his wife, Gracemary, of Pownal, Vt.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Eifton [Eifion] Jones, whom she married on July 27, 1937. Mr. Jones died September 16, 1964. She is also preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and James Clark; and two sisters, Agnes Clark and Margaret Wever.

FUNERAL SERVICES: The funeral will be held Thursday morning April 17, 2008 from HANSON-WALBRIDGE FUNERAL HOME, 213 West Main Street with the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Interment will be held later in the spring in the family lot in Poultney Cemetery, in Poultney, Vt. If friends desire, memorial gifts in Mary's memory may be made to the Bennington Rescue Squad, the Paralyzed Veterans Association or the Old Castle Theatre Company c/o Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home P.O.
