AGE 96 YEARS
Maryjane Doyle of Topsfield, formerly of Danvers and Lynn, entered into eternal life on August 25, 2021. Maryjane was a daughter of the late Thomas J. and Mildred (Killen) Whelan of Lynn, MA. She was the third of the Whelan children born joining Thomas and Mildred, and followed a few years later by brothers Robert and William. The Whelans were one of the most well-known families in Lynn, due to the prominence of her father as a 3 Sport Coach and Principal of Lynn English High School.
After graduating from the Lynn Hospital School of Nursing, Maryjane began a lifelong career as a nurse. She later returned to New England College to earn her BS. She married her husband of almost 50 years, Frederick Doyle, in a double wedding ceremony with her sister Mildred and her husband, Donald Beaton, at St. Pius Church on September 8, 1949.
Maryjane is survived by her three children - Deborah (Steve) Maloy of Topsfield, Frederick (Joy) Doyle of Beverly, and Laurie (Tom) Chruniak also of Beverly. She also had 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren (soon to be 9), and 34 nieces and nephews, including Jack Whelan who lived with the Doyle family until he was 6. Her family will greatly miss her kindness, sense of humor, love of any new adventure, and affinity for sweets, especially ice cream sodas.
Burial: St. Joseph's Cemetery also in Lynn.
Arrangements: Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, Lynn.
