CISCOANS' SON MISSING AT SEA
"CISCO, Nov 14 - Spl - Mr and Mrs. J. T. Anderson of Cisco have been advised by the
Navy department that their son, Ensign James Calhoun Anderson, 31, has been reported
missing in action.
Ensign Anderson was reported to have been in charge of a deck gun crew aboard a United
States vessel in the Pacific. The ship presumably was torpedoed.
At the time of his enlistment, Ensign Anderson was a member of the law firm of James &
Conner of Fort Worth. He volunteered May 12, when he left for San Francisco, and after a
training course was assigned to a ship early in July.
Born in Cisco, he was graduated from the Southern Methodist law school."

Ensign Anderson, was killed in action, while serving aboard the SS George Thacker on
November 1, 1942. The ship was torpedoed in a UBoat attack off the coast of Africa.
Ensign Anderson was the recipient of the Purple Heart and the EAME campaign medal.
