Mary Lee Howard was born in Tuskegee, Alabama on May 14, 1919 to the late Philip and Elvira Barrow Martin. She was the seventh of ten children. She departed this life after a long illness on Thursday, June 28, 2001 at Doylestown Hospital, Doylestown, PA.

Mary joined the Shiloh Baptist Church of Tuskegee, AL at a young age.

She met and married Ocie L. Howard and to this union thirteen children were born. One son, Willie Floyd Howard died in infancy. They moved to Trevose, PA in 1955. She and her husband became members of First Baptist Church of Huntingdon Valley under the pastorate of Rev. Young. Mary belonged to the Willing Workers, and the Gospel Chorus. She also belonged to the Trevose Community Prayer Band. Mary was a devoted Christian who was always willing to help others in need. She always had a special love for children.

Mary was a homemaker for many years and later became employed by Betz Labs in Trevose, PA until her retirement.

Mary leaves to mourn: a sister, Eva Lou Merritt of Cleveland, OH; 12 children, Jesse (Hilda), Robert, David (Joyce), Geraldine Lord, Rozell, Cardell, Alphonse, Palastine Womack (Stanford), Nathaniel (all of Trevose, PA, Lois Jones (Jimmy) of Doylestown, PA, Odester Brumsey (James) of Virginia Beach, VA: three sons-in-law; three daughters-in-law; twenty-nine grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
