Joseph J. Hunyadi, age 89 of Stratford, passed away on Friday, April 9, 2010 at Bridgeport Hospital. Mr. Hunyadi, a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy serving as an Aviation Machinists Mate in the Southwest Pacific, was born in Bridgeport to the late Augustus and Margaret (Elias) Hunyadi and has been a life long Stratford resident. He retired from Remington Arms after 43 years as a chief supervisor of fire and safety, and was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Remington Arms Federal Credit Union and was past president of the Armed Guard Patrol Union. Survivors include his beloved wife, Pauline Pilat Hunyadi; his devoted children, Mark Hunyadi and his wife, Barbara of Trumbull, Barry Hunyadi and his wife, Mary of New York, and Kimberly Hanrahan and her husband, Patrick of Stratford; four cherished grandchildren, Sarah Miller and her husband, Robert, Amanda, Caitlyn and Skylar Hunyadi; a great-granddaughter, Rebecca Miller; and a sister, Margaret Hunyadi. In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by brothers, Augustus and John and sisters, Marion Sheerin and Irene Starincak. Friends may greet his family on Monday April 12th from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford. Interment will be private.
