Meme was the second-to-youngest of eleven children born to William Edward and Amanda Rice [Sturgill] McDavid.
One month after her baby sister was born, her mother died. When her baby sister was six months old, she too, passed.
She was the sister of my precious Aunt Emma, Nora "Emma" McDavid Comstock.
Meme married Rollin Jason Carpenter on 03 Apr 1909 in Grayson, Carter Co., Kentucky. They had two sons, Kenneth Vaughn, who didn't survive childbirth, and my grandfather, Edward Dewitt Carpenter, who married Rachel Irene Barger.
Meme lived to be 100 years old! She was survived by her grandson, Ken, five great-grandchildren, and twelve second great-grandchildren. Her husband, Rollin, both sons, granddaughter, Reita, and great-granddaughter, Tammy, preceeded her in death.
