After Business College, he was employed at Champlin Petroleum Company where he held many different accounting positions, ending as Manager of Billings, Receivables and Payroll. Bill continued his education at Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma and graduated in 1975 with his BS in Accounting. Champlin then transferred him to Ft. Worth, Texas in 1981. After retirement, Bill found a passion for helping others plan for retirement working for over 20 years as a Personal Financial Planner and Stock Broker.
Bill and Merriann loved to travel. They were long-time members of the Cowtown Good Sam Club and enjoyed traveling and playing golf around the United States, Mexico and Canada with many friends they met along the way. They were master woodcarvers and spent many hours creating beautiful wood carvings. Bill was president and treasurer of the Texas Woodcarvers' Association. Bill began a lifetime membership in Kiwanis while in Enid, and continued his membership in Waco, Texas after his retirement. He served as vice president and treasurer as well as coordinated many domino tournaments while in Waco.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Merriann, and 12 siblings; Vernon Martin, Pauline Jernigan, Mary Lee Brister, Woodrow Martin, Chester Martin, George Martin, Sarah Crowell, Alice Brandenburg, Gladys McBride, Doris Richards, James Martin, Martha Murray. He is survived by his three daughters, one sister, Ruth Kinney of Guthrie, six grandchildren; Jake Hooley (Ashley) of Olathe, Kansas, Derrick Schale (Samantha) of Yukon, Chelsie Dillig (Josh) of Haslet, Texas, Nichole Hinck (Stephen) of Houston, Texas, John and Annie Hooley of Burleson, Texas as well as 12 great-grandchildren.
