Mr. William Ernest Â"PopeyeÂ" Morton, 63, self-employed painter and resident of West 10th Street, died Sunday, July 31, 2005 at Maury Regional Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Homer D. Kelley and Rev. Donnie King officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends after 4:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com.

The Maury County native was the son of the late Oscar H. and Clara Louise King Morton. He was a member of Colonial Meadows Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Becky (Kevin) Kizer of Culleoka and Betty (Tom) Rinaudo of Columbia; a son, Ernie Morton of Columbia; three sisters, Margaret (Fred) Reed of Spring Hill, Linda (Steve) Beckum and Mary (James W.) Farris, both of Columbia; four brothers, Billy (Evelyn) Morton of Dayton, Kenneth (Cindy) Morton, James (Lynn) Morton and Ricky Morton, all of Columbia; eight grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Reese and two brothers, Howard Morton and Bobby Morton.

Pallbearers are Steve Beckum, Willis Brown, Adam Morton, Hershel King, Doug Parrish, Charlie Parrish, Jimmy Parrish, Gene Parrish and Brian Harvey.
