LeRoy L. Simonson – age 83 of Rolfe, passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, near Rolfe, Iowa.

LeRoy Lane Simonson was born on January 26, 1938, at Fort Dodge, Iowa. He was the son of Roy and Nelda (Lehnus) Simonson. LeRoy graduated from Plover High School in 1956 and went on to Waldorf College, graduating in 1958. He served in the U. S. Army Reserve. On June 20, 1959, LeRoy was united in marriage to Ruth Severson in Northwood, IA. LeRoy and Ruth settled near Rolfe where they farmed and raised their family.

LeRoy was a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Pocahontas. He was a past member of the Co-Op Board. He enjoyed collecting toy tractors, doing woodworking, other projects and working in his shop. He loved farming, following the grain market and visiting with people. He especially loved his family and the time he spent with them.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth of Rolfe, IA; children, Chris (Lisa) Simonson of Maple Grove, MN, Lori (Dean) Key of Primghar, IA, Jill Simonson of Sioux City, IA and Kyle Simonson of Bayport, MN; two grandchildren Amy (Glenn) Krause and Andrew Simonson; two great-grandchildren, Fred and Penny Krause; sister, Marlene Lundsgaard of Cherokee, IA and brother, Merlin (Trudy) Simonson of Genoa, WI. LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Sigrid and Larry Achorn and brother-in-law, Conrad Lundsgaard.
