Blanche Edna, daughter of Robert and Mary Nellis, was born on a farm in Jefferson township December 3, 1881 and died September 13 at her farm home where she had lived for the past 63 years. She was 70 years, 9 months and 10 days at the time of her death.
On March 24, 1909 she married L.L. Cadwell of Manilla and seven children were born to this union, Robert of Westside; Ross of Buck Grove; Hal, Vyrl, Mrs Edith Wieble and Mrs Letha Abel of Botna. She was preceded in death by her father and mother and one son, Rae.
Surviving are her husband, four sons, two daughters, 16 grandchildren; three brothers, Fred of Des Moines; Oliver of Louisville, Ky, Daniel of Early; one sister Mrs Bertha Martin of Botna and other relatives and friends.
Soon after her marriage, she united in fellowship with the Methodist church in Manilla, and later transferred to the United Brethern church at Botan. She was a member of the manilla chapter of the O.E.S.
Funeral services were held for Mrs Blanche Cadwell at 2 p.m. Monday, September 15, from the Manilla Methodist church with the Rev. Richard Rowe officiating. Burial was made in the Nishnabotna cemetery. Pallbearers were Otto Frank, William Lorenzen, Francis Kerr, Will Gray, N.B. McCracken and Robert Campbell.
