Visitation will be held in the Gospel Lighthouse Pentecostal Church on Monday, September 6th, 2021, from 11 a.m. until midnight, then on Tuesday, September 7th, 2021, from 9 a.m. until time of service at 4 p.m. in the church.
Burton, 87, of Oakdale, entered eternal rest on Friday, September 3rd, 2021, in the Christus St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria. He was born January 6th, 1934, in Oakdale to the union of Elmer Ashworth and Audrey Ware Ashworth. In 1970, Burton was baptized in Jesus Name by Reverend T.C. Bonnette in Oakdale. Burton was a faithful member of the Gospel Lighthouse Pentecostal Church. Before retiring, he was a truck driver hauling logs, and loved to bass fish on the Calcasieu River. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Audrey Ashworth; one son, John David Ashworth; grandsons, Justin Ashworth and Bruce Langston; one brother, Murphy Ashworth; one sister, Gladys Buxton.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 67 years, Mildred Buxton Ashworth of Oakdale; his children, Burton Ashworth Jr. (Ilene) of West Monroe, Ann Butter (Troy) of Melder, Michael Ashworth of Oakdale, Kathalene Cloud (Larry) of Glenmora, and Bruce Ashworth (Donelle) of Adair, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Pallbearers to serve will be Joshua Butter, Steven Hess, Larry Cloud, Travis Hess, Kathy Cloud, and Peggy Cloud. Honorary pallbearer will be Ethan Buxton.
