Marjorie (Marge) Wasmuth, age 88, Moorhead, MN formerly of Rothsay, MN passed away peacefully on Friday, September 3,2021 at River Pointe Assisted Living in Moorhead.
Marge was born July 30,1933 to Lloyd and Lydia (Zimmerman) Hovland in Rothsay. Marge attended Rothsay school where she graduated.
Marge married Lowell Wasmuth on June 10, 1951. They farmed near Rothsay for many years. They raised five children. Marge and Lowell enjoyed wintering in Mesa, Az and did so for 26 years.
Marge had many interests, most importantly her love for studying the Bible. She enjoyed music, especially playing the piano and organ in church which she did for over 50 years. She also had a passion for reading and through the years accumulated a small library of books. Marge was an amazing baker and cook, making homemade bread and treats ready for anyone who visited.
Marge is survived by Lowell, her husband of 70 years; five children, Bruce (Priscilla) Wasmuth, David Wasmuth, Mary (Scott) Handy, Patti Wasmuth, Julie (Bob) Baumgardner; four grandchildren, Erin (Steve) Wirtz, Jenny (Mark) Bednar, Tyler Baumgardner and Ryan Baumgardner; five great grandchildren, Lucy, Sadie, and Jude Wirtz, Charlie and Henry Bednar.
Her other immediate family survivor is her sister, Carolyn Danielson.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Lydia Hovland, brothers, Lyndon Hovland and Milton Hovland.
The family requests memorials be made to Samaritan's Purse or Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Visitation: 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at the Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls and will resume one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 9, 2021, at the Olson Funeral Home Chapel in Fergus Falls.
