Eldorado - Patricia "Pat" Mitchell's life began on December 7, 1933 in El Dorado, Ks; the daughter of Jesse and Marsha Mabel (Allen) Ratcliff. She Graduated High School from Bluestem. Pat was united in marriage to John Fry for 25 years and was a loving mother to her 3 daughters. Pat and John hauled hay for local farmers. Just months before John's passing she attended Butler to earn her secretarial degree which became a lifeline to her. There she also learned shorthand and often wrote her Christmas list or private notes in shorthand so that no one could read them.

Many years after John passed she was fortunate to find a second love in Glen Mitchell. Pat and Glen were married for 26 years. They loved gardening, gambling and grandkids. Pat was an avid quilter and shared quilt patterns with her friend Elsie Carson. She never sold a quilt but loved giving them as gifts to her family and friends. Elsie was her lifelong friend. They would have coffee together each Sunday morning before attending church together at Fairview Baptist. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events and smiled big if their names were announced for making a good play. Pat could do anything and you couldn't tell her otherwise. She could do any type of house remodeling from sheetrocking to roofing. Pat could whip up a meal in 15 minutes and it would be the best one you'd ever eaten. Her chicken and noodles and fried potatoes were especially good. Her absolute favorite thing to do was mow her yard with her zero turn mower.

Her loving family includes her children Jeanie Gomez and Jonna Garbee (Sean) both of

El Dorado, stepchildren Glenda Carpenter, Sandra Johnson, David (Connie) Mitchell and Danny (Jenny) Mitchell all of Haysville, 23 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, siblings Mildred Newman of Arizona and Clegg (Twila) Ratcliff of El Dorado, and cousin Wayne (Brenda) Fry of El Dorado. Pat passed away on August 25, 2021 in El Dorado as her girls held her hands. She is preceded in death by both husbands, John Fry and Glen Mitchell, daughter Brenda Stangle, Son-in-laws Ronnie Carpenter and Gene Johnson, granddaughters Annie Gomez and Billee Johnson, 3 sisters, 1 brother and her foster father, Glen Baker. Friends may gather with the family from 5-7pm on Sunday August 29th at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, August 30 at 1:00 at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home. A burial will follow at Fairview Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to Circle Oil Hill Elementary.
