Gladys Mae Melanson (nee McPhee) age 90, of Halifax, passed away peacefully at the Halifax Infirmary surrounded by her family on Friday, April 17th, 2015. Born in Cardigan, PEI, Gladys was the daughter of the late Ella (Stewart) & James McPhee She is survived by her children Wayne (Millie) McPhee, Montreal; Faye (Art) Flemming, Edmonton; Leigh (Val) Melanson, Carla Drummond, Karen (Peter) Drakes and sister June Pope, all of Halifax. She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren – Kristina, Angela, Paul, Joanne, Cheryl, Teena, Laura, Kevin, Adrianna & Taylor; 6 great grandchildren – Jordan, Kyle, Austin, Michael, Makayla, Jaxon and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by husband Art, daughter Gail, brothers Earl and Sterling, sister Phyllis and son-in-law, Larry. Visitation – 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday April 21st at Cruikshank's Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St. Halifax. Funeral Service at 10 a.m. Wednesday Apr 22 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Father Paul Morris officiating. Internment at the Gate of Heaven, at later date. Special thanks to Dr. Alexis Goth, the nursing staff of Halifax Infirmary & Northwood Continuing Homecare for their kindness and dedication to her care.
