Nancy was a stay at home mother. Nancy's life purpose became clear to her when their two sons, Geoffrey and Matthew were born. Never a day went by that she wasn't focused on her sons' health, happiness and well being. There was nothing she would not do for them. She loved them with her heart and soul.
That said, her sons were completely upstaged once her five grandchildren, Greta, Henry, Harriet and twins Katherine and Madeline were born. Nancy showered her grandchildren with gifts galore and love, love, love. They were the joy of her life.
Nancy was a genealogist who loved to sleuth around churches, cemeteries and town halls to get the information that she needed. Her other great "love" was knitting, knitting, knitting. It seemed her outfit was not complete without her knitting bag by her side. Needless to say, her grandchildren were the major recipients of her endeavors
Nancy owned and operated an upholstery business, the former President of the Strathmore Book Club; was a avid volunteer at the Robert's School and CBA. She also loved to read.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband, David. Sons: Geoffrey (Anne) Silkey and Matthew (Amanda) Silkey. Her mom, Natalie Williams. Sisters: Linda (Gerhard) Schwedes, Deborah (Michael) Allen and brother, Craig Williams, Five grandchildren, sister and brothers in law, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Private family services were held on Tuesday September 4th. Nancy was laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Upstate Stroke Center; Golisano Children's Hospital or to the Robert's School Library. To leave a message of condolence to the family please visit www.burnsgarfield.com
