Singer. Born Mary Sybil Kidd in Hot Springs, Arkansas, she began her career as a child opera singer before moving to New York City in 1921. There she made her way to grand opera, gaining stage experience through vaudeville and operetta. During the 1930s, she was popular in the Ziegfeld Follies, radio performances and made recordings for RCA Victor. She also assisted with planning of the celebration in honor of President Franklin Roosevelt's fifty-fourth birthday and went nationwide with benefits to raise funds for the treatment of polio. She died in New York City, following a lengthy illness.
