Leon Burnett, 74, of the Concord community, finished his course here on earth at his home on Sunday, March 29, 2020.

A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Cecil and Louise Adams Burnett. He was also preceded in death by a brother: Earl Burnett; and sisters: Wilma Wilson, Bernice McMahan and Nancy Silver.

Leon was a member of Concord Baptist Church. He loved his church and was a faithful member.

He loved going fishing with his brothers. Leon enjoyed deer and turkey hunting and spending time with his family. He was loved by everyone, and will be forever missed on this side.

Surviving are his wife: Peggy Hensley Burnett; two daughters: Tonya Ledford (Terry) and Nicole Robinson (Todd), all of Burnsville; grandchildren: Jaken Ledford (Juli), Jerica Matney (Josh), Dalton Robinson (Alison) and Dathan Robinson: great grandchildren: Brylee and Berklee Ledford and Maverick and Lincoln Matney; sisters: Patsy Riddle (Bobby), Peggy Harris, Brenda Robinson (Frank), all of Burnsville; four brothers: Charles Burnett of Akron, OH, Donald Burnett (Peggy) of Springfield, OR, Ray Burnett (Norma), Pudgy Burnett (Ponda), all of Burnsville; and his two dogs: Rusty and Boomer.

Due to the Covid-19 restrictions private graveside service will be held. A memorial service/visitation will be held at his church at a later date.
