"Friends and relatives of the family were shocked and grieved to learn last Friday of the death of Mrs. Jacob Korth at Hot Spring (should be Hot Springs), S.D., where she had gone a couple of weeks before for medical treatment. Earlier in the week word was recieved (sic) that the lady was improving and apparently getting along nicely. Mrs. Korth died on Thursday and on account of a delay in delivering a message, Mr. Korth failed to reach the bedside of his beloved wife before she died. The body was brought to Linday (should be Lindsay) Friday and taken to the old home near St. Bernard and the funeral was held from the St. Bernard church Monday morning. The deceased was born in Superior, Michigan in 1855. At the age of seventeen she was united in marriage to Jacob Korth at Cedar Creek, Iowa, and after a few years residence at this place they moved to Wisconin, moving to Wayne county, Nebraska in 1884. In 1889 they moved to Platte county and settled on a farm between here and Lindsay where they have since resided. Those left to mourn the loss of a really noble and loving wife and mother are the husbad (sic), and daughters, Mrs. Jos. Albracht and Mrs. Wm. Burger of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Killian Schafer of Wadsworth, Texas, and Mary Korth living at home, sons, Peter of Cedar Rapids, Jos. of Wadsworth, Texas, and Chas., Wm., Killian, Frank and Simon who are still at home." ("The Humphrey Democrat", Vol. XXVI, No. 26, 27 June 1913, p. 8)
