Carmela Grace Alden, 63, passed away with her son by her side Tuesday, September 7, 2021, in Des Moines. A Celebration of Life Gathering will take place 3 - 7 pm, Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at Westover Funeral Home in Des Moines, Iowa. Burial will take place 11 am Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines, Iowa in Des Moines, Iowa.

Carmela was born July 2, 1958, in Des Moines, IA, to Russell and Rosemary (Carlin) Alden. She graduated High School in 1976. Following High School, she attended Iowa Methodist School of Nursing but withdrew to care for her mother. Later in life, she graduated Des Moines Area Community College in 1998.

Carmela was a beautiful soul with a heart of gold. She was a selfless giver who always put the needs of others before her own. She touched countless lives and made friends everywhere she went. Carmela loved cooking and entertaining/hosting others. She was an honest Christian woman, and her faith was extremely important to her. Carmela was very proud of her family heritage; she had done extensive research into her family background. Her family and friends meant the world to her. Carmela worked for Iowa Workforce for many years helping to place unemployed Veterans. She was the owner of La Bilingüe, LLC where she provided CPA services for the Hispanic community.

Carmela is survived by her son, Matthew (Alisha Markuson) Kiley of Des Moines, IA; grandchild, Colton; as well as many extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Contributions may be made to the family for a future memorial, memorials may be mailed or dropped off at the funeral home under Matt Kiley's name.
