Tribute by a friend:
In Washington, D. C. at his sister's, Mrs. Charles LaHayne in the 32nd year of his age, on the 4th instant, William D., son of John Clarke, Esq. of Prince William County, Virginia. Young, sanguine, beloved by all, his death leaves a vacancy that will long remain unfilled. In the social circle his popularity was unbounded; while in the family circle his memory will ever be cherished as that of a good son, a kind brother, and a devoted and indulgent husband and father. The sympathies of the whole community go out to the aged father, the brothers and sisters, but more especially to the bereaved wife and four young children left to mourn their irreparable loss.
