He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank J. Baker, Sr. and Frances Evans Baker, and a stillborn sister.
He served in the Marines for 6 years and then went on to join the Memphis Fire Department in 1960, retiring in 1990. He would tell everyone that he loved the MFD from the first day on the job until the very last day. He came up through the ranks and was appointed by Mayor Dick Hackett as Deputy Director.
Jim was bigger than life itself. He also loved Nascar, dancing, fishing and golf.
Burial will be in Forest Hill South Cemetery.
