Florence Merck, age 86, of Fort Collins, died Saturday, November 24, 2007.

Florence Marguerette Frazier was born May 20, 1921 in Berthoud, CO to William and Sarah Frazier. She grew up in Berthoud and graduated from Barnes School of Commerce in Denver.

In 1948, she married Woodrow Merck in Los Angeles. For many years, Florence worked as a bookkeeper for Union Oil in Denver, and later in Midland, Texas. She lived most of her life in Longmont and in 1989, retired from the accounting department of H.U.D. Five years ago, she moved to Fort Collins to be closer to her son and daughter-in-law.

Florence was active with the First United Methodist Church in Longmont for many years and volunteered her time on the newsletter committee. She also enjoyed reading in her spare time.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Rita Merck of Fort Collins; four grandchildren, Aaron Merck of St. Petersburg, FL, Cheryl Campbell of Ft. Collins, Rita Singleton of Oxnard, CA and Eric Merck of Ft. Collins; her sister, Wilma Dunn of Longmont; and nine great-grandchildren, Gage, Moses, Shairobia, Nefertari, Tavyla, Patricia, James David, Judah and Anya.

She was preceded in death by her parents and seven older siblings, Edward Frazier, George Frazier, Ethel Scofield, Marvie Culver, Mildred Frazier, Ivan Frazier and Sarah Cornell.

Cremation is planned and a memorial service will be held Saturday, December 29, 2007 at 10:30 am at First United Methodist Church, 350 Eleventh Ave., Longmont. Interment in Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
