IN MEMORIAM

Horace Wyman, Former Westford Selectman

Westford - Horace F. "Hoppy" Wyman, 73, of 120 Dunstable Road, owner and operator of Wyman's beach and Campground and a well known Westford resident, died Thursday at the Verteran's Administration hospital, Jamaica Plains.

He was born in Staten Island, N. Y., son of the late Horace W. and the late Mamie (Hettler) Wyman and had lived in Westford the past 50 years.

Wyman was a selectman for 18 years and when he retired in 1973 was presented a citation from then Gov. Francis W. Sargent.

A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a 32nd degree mason, a member of the Aleppo Temple of Wilmington, the Ahasuerus Council Royal, and Select Masters Pilgrim Commandery, Mount Horeb R. A. Chapter and Pentucket Lodge AF&AM, all of Lowell.

Wyman was also a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, the Confistory Valley of Boston and was a life member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Lodge Council Chapter Valley of Lowell.

He was also associated with the Franco American Club of Forge Village, the Kiwanis Club of Westford, the H. E. Fletcher Social and Athletic Club of Nabnasset and the Westford Sportsmens Club.

He was a life member of the V.F.W., Mattawanakee Post No. 5539 Forge Village and the American Legion Fred F. Healy Post No. 159 of Granite Village. Wyman was also a member of the Westford Golden Age Club and Council of Aging.

He was married to Iona (Farrow) Wyman who survives him along with three daughters, Mrs. Spencer (Thelma) Reilly and Mrs. Barbara Shea, both of Tyngsboro and Mrs. Viola Pately of California: two sons, George W. Wyman, superintendent of the highway and parks department of Westford and Horace F. Wyman, Jr. of Webster, a sister, Mrs. Frieda Driscoll of Westford: also 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren.


WYMAN__Died Aug. 8 at the VA Hospital, Jamaica Plain. Horace F. "Hoppy" Wyman of 120 Dunstable Rd, Westford, husband of Iona (Farrow) Wyman. There will be no calling hours. Private Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial in Fairview Cemetery, Westford. Friends who wish, may make memorial contributions in his name to a charity of their choosing. Funeral Director James L. Healy and Frederick W. Healy.
