Arnora Deanna Perry Hummel, age 81, passed onto glory Monday, July 19, 2021, in her son's home in Virginia Beach, to be reunited with her husband of almost 51 years, David M. Hummel. She was born in Topeka, Kansas, April 21, 1940, to Arnold and Nora Perry. Arnora and Dave raised four children.

At the age of 4, her family moved from Topeka to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where Arnora began taking dance lessons from Dr. Charles Fishback from ages 8 to 15. He immediately saw she had superior talent and ability as a ballerina. The family then moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where she began her teaching career with Jack Cione. Mr. Cione retired two years later and gave his studio to Arnora, telling her she had the ability to become a "master teacher." She opened Arnora's Studio of Dance and later went on to marry and have children, eventually retiring from dance and moving to Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1967, and finally to Virginia Beach in 1981. She opened Academie de Ballet in Chesapeake, Virginia, in 1989, a labor of love with her husband David, where she truly became the "master teacher," teaching many thousands of students over the years and multitudes of award winning dancers, many of whom went on to dance and teach professionally, a legacy that will long survive Miss Arnora. She wrote and produced numerous original ballets which were performed publicly in Hampton Roads for decades and appreciated by huge audiences. In 1991, she began the professional Masterworks Performing Arts Company, which toured in the US, Israel, and India, spreading the Good News of Jesus the Messiah. She was also involved in the annual production of "The Man Called Jesus" and the "Before the Throne" dance ministry.

Arnora is predeceased by her loving husband, David, and her grand-daughter, Danielle Juree Ladrigan. She is survived by her sister, her 4 children and their spouses, her remaining six grandchildren; her great-grand-children; as well as many nephews, nieces, and cousins. She is also survived by her Academie de Ballet family whom she loved and cherished.
