Lionel Adams, 75, was born in San Antonio Texas and went to be with his Lord and Savior September 10, 2021 in Austin, Texas. He was born again of the Spirit of God at the age of 25. In August 1971, while watching a Billy Graham Crusade on TV, he saw his spiritual bankruptcy and his need for forgiveness after realizing his sin had offended a Holy and Righteous God. He knew from that moment on that he had received God's forgiveness and the gift of Eternal Life through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, and walked with Him for the past 50 years.

In San Antonio, he graduated from Central Catholic High School and St. Mary's University with a degree in Industrial Engineering. Having been in ROTC throughout high school and college, upon graduating in 1969, the U. S. Army immediately sent him briefly to Germany and then to Vietnam as a 1st Lieutenant where he served as a forward observer with the 101st Airborne Artillery Division and was awarded the bronze star for meritorious service.

Upon his return, he began working as an engineer for the government in the Department of Defense in Dallas, Texas. That's where he met his wife, Anne, at a church function and they were married in December 1978.

In 1981, they moved to Austin, Texas where he was the manager of Hostess Cake Company, and later he managed his own route with Little Debbie Snacks.

Even though Lionel had a dry sense of humor that caught people off guard at times, those who took the the time to know him discovered Lionel was a man of deep, abiding faith in his Lord Jesus Christ. He was a man of the Word, reading, studying, and obeying God's Word, the Bible, literally every day. No matter how tired he was, he always started and ended each day reading and meditating on God's Word. But more important than being in God's Word, God's Word was in him. Because he always sought the Lord as his source of wisdom and depended on the Lord to live His life through him, yielding to the Holy Spirit as a way of life, the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) was abundant in his life which made him a wonderful leader and husband. God's blessings and peace were always in his home and marriage: one name, one heart, one house, one interest, one love, one Spirit.

Lionel was a member of Grace Community Bible Church for 31 years where he had served as a Sunday School teacher and an Elder.

He is survived by Anne, his wife of 43 years, his sister and brother-law Linda and Cecil Redford, sister-in-law Lynn Hamilton, and several nieces and nephews.

He will be greatly missed, never forgotten and always loved. Our hearts are selfishly broken, but we rejoice that he is whole again in mind, body, and spirit and that he is forever in the presence of his Lord whom he has served all these many years. Coram Deo.
