Betty W. (Van Meter) Zimmer, 91, of Royal Center, IN, passed away at 10:55 AM on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Chase Center.
Born on March 26, 1930 in Cass County, IN, she was the daughter of the late George and Lovie (Fiddler) Van Meter.
She was a Metea High School graduate.
On June 25, 1950, Betty married the love of her life, Louis E. Zimmer, who passed away on October 23, 2013.
Betty was a homemaker her entire life. She was a member of Metea Baptist Church and a founding member and past president of the Lamplighters Home Ec. Club. Along with her husband, she was also a founding member of the Pioneer Pathfinders camping club in Royal Center.
Betty was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She and Louis enjoyed taking their children on vacations and camping trips. Spending time with her children and grandchildren was her greatest joy.
Survivors include six children; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Betty was also preceded in death by seven siblings - Daniel Van Meter, Martha Studebaker, Mildred Rans, Bud Van Meter, Weldon Van Meter, Ernest Van Meter and Donald Van Meter.
Services will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, September 13, 2021 at Rans Funeral Homes & Crematory Harrison Chapel in Royal Center, IN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Monday. Burial will follow at Indian Creek Christian Cemetery.
