Donald M. "Tex" Goehring, age 87, of Appleton, passed away on September 12, 2021 at a local hospital. Tex was born on April 9, 1934 to Maurice and Arlene (Terkelson) Goehring in Manitowoc Rapids, Wisconsin. He was a 1951 graduate of Lincoln High School in Manitowoc. On April 7, 1956 he married the former Fern Olson in Iola and they enjoyed over 43 years together. She preceded him in death on June 25, 1999. He worked his entire career at Superior Electric and he retired after more 40 years with them. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton where he sang in the church choir.

Tex loved his family more than anything and loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren. He was an active parent and grandparent and rarely missed a family function or sporting event. Tex and Fern enjoyed bowling together in their younger days and traveling together after retirement. Favorite destinations included Washington State, California, Niagara Falls, Alaska and The Grand Canyon.

Tex was an avid Packers and NASCAR fan and loved tractor pulls. He also loved deer hunting, fishing, woodworking and playing cards. He was known as a storyteller who had a great sense of humor and in quieter moments, he enjoyed old western movies, especially John Wayne, Clint Eastwood and James Bond. He was a good cook and enjoyed summer cookouts as well.

He will be sadly missed by 4 children: Dan (special friend Gerry Sauter) Goehring, Deborah Blankenship, Darryl (Linda) Goehring, and Dorene (Greg) Pepin, grandchildren: Noah (special friend Kassidy Birzgalis) Pepin, Lucy Pepin, and Myranda Blankenship, step-grandchildren: Josh Thompson and Lisa Thompson, 1 sister Ardis Egli, 3 brothers Sherman (Marilyn) Goehring, William Goehring, and Leland (Debi) Goehring as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
