Joseph (Joe) W. Clarkson went to be with his heavenly father on August 13, 2021. Joe was born in Walter Reed Medical Hospital in San Antonio, Texas on December 11, 1947, to Major Harry W. and Anna May Clarkson now deceased. He was a graduate of Atlanta High School (1965) and the University of Dallas. He served in the army and was deployed to Viet Nam. Upon his completion of duty, Joe joined the Texas Army National Guard and retired with twenty years' service as a First Sergeant in 1988. He served several companies in the Dallas area as their manager of maintenance and retired to Northeast Texas. He is survived by his wife, Sue; his daughter Amanda Clarkson Rodriguez of Rockwall, and his stepson and his wife, Derek and Syvel Iversen of Texarkana; three grandsons and three granddaughters, Harrison, Josh and Joey, Gabby, Guli and Gwen; his twin sister Martha Clarkson Braswell and husband James; his sisters Amy Clarkson Phillips and Robbie Clarkson Neal and husband Barron, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Joe never met anyone he did not like. He was generous and loving, supportive, good humored and in love with life. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and met his wife Sue through an internet fishing chat room. Meadowbrook Funeral Home, Marshall, Texas is in charge of services. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, October 7, 2021 in Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to the charity of your choice.
