Dallas – Glenn Gilbert Ballard, 77, transitioned to Heaven on Tuesday, September 14, 2021at the Robin Johnson House with his children by his side.

Glenn was born in Gaston County on March 27, 1944, to the late Gilbert A Ballard and Addie Brewer Ballard. He was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church. Glenn loved his family and they will miss him greatly. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Ruth Carroll Ballard, and a sister, Carolyn Owen.

Glenn is survived by his beloved daughters Glenda (Kevin) Crowell of Bessemer City, and Karen (David) McSwain of Lincolnton; three wonderful grandchildren Danielle (Jameathan) Williams, Joshua McSwain, and Lydia McSwain; three great-grandchildren Laina, Dalton, and Harper Williams; a brother, James Ballard and wife Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m., Saturday, September 18th at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life service at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel with Reverend Larry Wells officiating.

Interment will follow at Long Creek Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery with the releasing of the doves.
