He was born May 12, 1938, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Orbrie Barnes and Alieen Scruggs Barnes, and was a retired truck driver and had also been employed at French Implement Company.
Billy was married to Jerry Anderson Barnes, who survives of the home.
Billy is also survived by one daughter, Melinda Barnes-Sanders and husband Chris of East Prairie; one brother. Brice Barnes and wife Nancy of Park Hills, Missouri; two grandchildren, Levi Sanders and Colin Grissom; and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one infant son, Billy Gene Barnes, Jr.; one daughter, Debbie Barnes, who passed away in 2013; and three sisters, Florence Maxwell, Mildred Rose and Barbara Hopper.
Visitation will be held Monday, September 20, 2021, from 6 - 8 p.m. at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at 1 p.m. in the Shelby Chapel, with Bro. George White officiating.
Interment will follow at East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Chris Sanders, Eric Goetz, David Lingle, Darren Lingle, Dillon Lingle and David Wilburn.
