Burton Felton Mayfield was born January 4, 1928 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania he was the only child of Robert and Eunice Mayfield.
Burton or "Spoonie" as he was known since infancy was educated in the school systems of Philadelphia and Bensalem.
He enlisted in the Army and after basic training served in the Philippines during World War II. He came home to Trevose after the war where he lived with his mother, Eunice.
Burton joined Holsey Temple CME Church and last July transferred his membership to Saint Matthew United Methodist Church.
In 1952, he joined in matrimony with Charlotte J. Vinson. From this union was born two children, Deborah Lynn and Burton, Jr.
Spoonie worked construction for many years and was an experienced brick layer and builder.
He was also interested in antique automobiles and was known from New England through Georgia to Kansas for his expertise in restoration of Model A Fords.
Failing health made it necessary that he not continue with what had become his hobby.
Spoonie continued in failing health for several years and went home to be with the Lord on January 9, 2002.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Charlotte; their two children, Deborah and Burton Jr.; a granddaughter, Shere; many uncles, aunts, cousins and a host of friends.
