Funeral services for Hobert Carter, Jr., 36, of Louisa, were conducted Monday afternoon in Morgan Creek Methodist Church by the Rev. Gallie Isaac. Burial was in Carter Cemetery. Mr. Carter died March 3, in Fort Gay of a pistol wound, believed to be self-inflicted, according to Wayne County Coroner Virgil Mills. The case is under investigation. Mr. Carter was born March 27, 1940, in Louisa, a son of Hobert Carter, Sr. of Louisa and the late Mrs. Eva Rice Carter. Surviving in addition to his father area a daughter, Miss Melissa Jane Carter of Olive Hill; six sisters, Mrs. Eugene Powell, Mrs. Basil Adams, and Mrs. Irene Adams, all of Columbus, Mrs. Lola Neil and Mrs. Edannah Faye Owens, both of Nashville, and Mrs. Louise Maynard of Louisa; and five brothers, Kenneth and Millard Carter, both of Columbus, Glen Carter of Huntington, Earl Carter of Clearwater, FL and Tommy Joe Carter of Louisa.
